Ennis Howard Plemons
Ennis Howard Plemons was born on May 10, 1892 in Dallas, Texas. The Plemons family were one of the early settlers of Dallas, and Ennis’ grandfather helped to found the city. Ennis grew up in a wealthy family and attended private schools. He graduated from high school in 1910 and then went on to study at the University of Texas at Austin.
Plemons was a member of the UT Longhorn Band and the track team. He graduated from UT Austin in 1914 with a degree in civil engineering. After graduation, he worked for his father’s construction company for a few years. In 1917, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in World War I. After the war, he returned to Dallas and rejoined his father’s construction company.
